Overview

IT’S ALL IN THE NAME540 Gray Line

Welcome to VintageAutoSports.com a.k.a. september8th.com. First of all, you may be asking yourself why the two web names and addresses. Well, the answer is fairly simple. Several years ago as the website began growing, we thought a more “relevant” website name would be more appropriate, hence the VintageAutoSports.com moniker was born. But, as we began spreading the word of the “new” name, we discovered that the unique september8th.com badge was so vastly known among the majority of the race drivers and team members, we quickly decided not to eliminate it so fast. On paper, VintageAutoSports.com is probably the ideal choice, while for us, september8th.com will always be our sentimental favorite. The choice is yours, as typing either name in the browser’s address area will send you to the same great website.

ADDING CONTENT540 Gray Line

As we close out another racing season, we posted the last of the vintages racing events that we attended in 2006. We now plan to get back to adding more content to the Museum, Car and People Profile, and extensive Links’ sections, and hopefully, finally get to work on several other “pet” projects that have been sitting on the back burner for all too long already. Obviously, time is always the enemy of our good intentions, especially since our race coverage postings have evolved to include many more pages of images than ever before. Additionally, we hope to turn back the clock and repost numerous events from previous years just collecting dust in our files. The website is a labor of love that has grown larger than we ever could have expected, and we thank you, the viewers, for your countless encouraging words and emails that we have received over the years which help us get through the long nights in front of the computer screen.

A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS540 Gray Line

While many know us for our imagery in Vintage Motosport, Victory Lane, Vintage Racecar (Journal), Classic Motorsports and numerous other vintage publications, we recently began evolving beyond just providing photo memories of your outings, and began taking advantage of our formal design backgrounds to produce what I like to think of as photography on steroids. For samples of what can be done, please check out our growing menu of “one–of–a–kind” samples located at the Image Ideas/Samples link button located under the “MARKETPLACE” pulldown. Once there, you’ll see how traditional photography can be transformed into a unique piece of art. Additionally, please keep us in mind as a great resource to help you put together any ads, brochures, promo pieces and more you may need in the future.

TIME TO CLEAN OUT THE ATTIC or GARAGE540 Gray Line

Remember, this website was developed for you and has been molded with the help of your suggestions and comments over the years. We also hope that if you have any period racing photos (and/or movies) sitting around your attic or basement, we welcome the opportunity to add them to the site as well.

IN YOUR OWN WORDS540 Gray Line

Finally, here’s your chance to tell it all. Whether it’s about your favorite car, race track, how you got started in racing, your youthful adventures at the Glen or under the droplight, insights into the building of your prized racecar, or just about anything.....tell it here. We only just added a few stories and the “IN YOUR OWN WORDS“ section has already received great feedback. Please join in on the fun and send in those stories–––long or short–––we’d love to hear from you!

AND IT’S FREE540 Gray Line

If you haven’t yet perused the Classified section, please do, as it is a great place to connect buyers and sellers–––and best of all, it’s FREE!

2007 ALREADY!540 Gray Line

A fast look at 2007’s racing schedule once again reveals no shortage of venue choices. In fact, it’s definitely going to be another busy year with so many possibilities that any idea of an off–season just doesn’t seem to exist anymore. It has instead become a frenzy to ready the office, computer files and camera equipment for next year. And oh what a year it promises to be, with several benchmark celebrations that will be part of vintage auto racing’s already packed landscape of events in 2007.

We hope everyone has a Safe, Healthy and Happy New Year!
Lu & Walter
