Bob Harrington Awarded the Fergusson Challenge Trophy

John Greenwood, President of the Vintage Automobile Racing Association, was pleased to announce that Robert (Bob) Harrington is the 2007 recipient of the “James W Fergusson Challenge Trophy” for Outstanding Contribution to Vintage Motorsport.

Bob’s involvement with motorsport has covered more than 50 years from his first race at Edenvale including many roles in the Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs (CASC) from rally and race competitor though the presidency of the Hamilton Motor Sport Club, Ontario Race Chair and National Race Director, National Appeals member, Chief Steward of the Players GM series. After a long career in active roles in competition management Bob developed a second career as a writer and photographer for HSR and SVRA. It was as a consultant to VARAC that Bob originated and executed the return of F1 cars to the VARAC weekend at Mosport this past June.

For this and his past service to motorsport VARAC is please to recognize the service of Robert W. Harrington.

“The JAMES W. FERGUSSON CHALLENGE TROPHY”

Originally awarded by Canadian Sports Car pioneer and personality Jim Ferguson from 1949 to 1956, this trophy was donated to the Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada by his widow, Mrs. Alice Fergusson.Refurbished by VARAC in 1980 and again in 2005, the Fergusson Challenge Trophy shall be awarded to a VARAC member who, in the opinion of its Directors, has made an outstanding contribution to Vintage Racing in Canada according to the aims expressed in the VARAC charter......SVRA
