NHIS Vintage Celebration Breaks Entry Record

(LOUDON, N.H. – May 5, 2006) –– A record number of over 330 vintage racing machines have entered the Sixteenth Annual Vintage Celebration at New Hampshire International Speedway. This exhibition of early racing history will begin on Wednesday, May 17 and run through Sunday, May 21.

Over 150 Midgets, Sprint Cars, Champ Cars, Roadsters and NASCAR stock cars will fill the Speedway’s 1.058 mile oval on Wednesday, May 17 and Thursday, May 18. Fans will be able to meet and talk with many of the drivers and car owners from the early days of racing.

From Friday, May 19 to Sunday, May 21, the challenging 1.6 mile road course at NHIS will feature veteran competitors from the world of roadracing. The action will be friendly, but fierce as vintage sports cars, formula cars, and motorcycles compete for bragging rights.

To add to the excitement and beauty of the celebration, “The Elegance Invitational” will showcase the finest original and restored automobiles in the world on Saturday, May 20. This year’s show will spotlight eight Town Cars. These incredible chauffeur–driven masterpieces define elegance. A number of pre-World War II vehicles will grace the show field along with Bugattis, “Woodies”, Packards, Cadillacs and other fine automobiles.

Ken Squier, legendary motorsports announcer and owner of Vermont’s Thunder Road, will be the Grand Marshal for the Sixteenth Annual Vintage Celebration at New Hampshire International Speedway.

Gates will open every day at 9:00 a.m. A five–day event pass is $20 for adults and includes admittance into the infield. Children age 11 and under will be admitted free. General admission tickets are available for adults on Saturday for $10. Children age 11 and under will be admitted free. Tickets will be available at the Speedway Main Gate each day of the show.
