Vintage Motorsport Magazine Honored With Seven International Automotive Media Awards

Historic motor racing publication earns 1 Gold medal, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze medallions in annual media competition judged by prestigious group of automotive journalists.

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) December 18, 2006 – Vintage Motorsport magazine was honored with seven International Automotive Media Awards at the 16th International Automotive Media Competition, an annual competition to recognize and encourage excellence in all forms of automotive media.

William Edgar’s “Through The Years: Bill Krause” received the Gold medal in the Magazine Writing/Biography category. Dave Arnold’s profile “The Racer’s Racer: George Follmer” earned a Bronze Award in the same category.

In the Motorsport History competition, Chris Nixon’s “Phil Hill & The Green Hell” won the Silver medal, while Hal Crocker’s 3–part series “When Giants Raced” earned the Bronze medallion. And in the History/single marque category, Willem Oosthoek won the Bronze medal for his story “Caged Lion: Maserati Tipo 60/61.”

In the competition for Design/Total Publication, Vintage Motorsport won two Silver medals; one for its 2006 Annual, a photo yearbook of the past year in vintage racing, rallying and concours d’elegance, and a Silver award for Best Design for Magazines under 20,000 circulation with its July/August 2006 edition.

The seven awards were bestowed one year after the publication earned five IAMC awards for its content and design in 2005. Vintage Motorsport editor–in–chief D. Randy Riggs stated, “We are gratified at this acknowledgment from our peers in the automotive media of our consistent delivery of quality content and design. We look forward to continuing to earn their praise in the future.”

The International Automotive Media Competition (IAMC) is an awards program to recognize and encourage excellence in all forms of automotive media. Judging is by peers, to a standard. The IAMC is administered, produced by and is a property of the International Society for Vehicle Preservation, a non–profit 501(c)(3) educational organization.

Founded in 1982, Vintage Motorsport: The Journal of Motor Racing History is the oldest and leading vintage racing periodical in the U.S. market. The bimonthly publication covers news and photography of vintage auto racing events in the U.S. and abroad, as well as the history of the cars, drivers, tracks, series and manufacturers who participated in motorsports throughout the 20th century.
