Despite being 40 years old, Jo Schlesser accepted an invitation to drive the untested air–cooled Honda RA302 at the July 7th 1968 French Grand Prix. Unfortunately, on only lap two a crash would end his life. Jackie Ickx’ Ferrari 312 was victorious.
